The house is equipped with a heat pump that uses underground heat exchangers. These are at a depth of 50 to 100 meters below the surface. The heat pump removes heat from the ground heat exchangers or cold from the ground. The heat from the ground is further heated in the pump, to raise the heat up to a suitable temperature level for heating. The electric heat pump consumes only a quarter of the energy conventional needed for heating. The plant is also ideally suited to cool the whole house on hot summer days.
