Investment in an E-4S 1 is somewhat higher than that of a central heating boiler however the E-4S 1 produces both electricity and heating making a fair comparison rather difficult.

 

An independent external company compared running costs of the Compact Energy Producer E-4S 1 to the costs of both running a central heating boiler and the purchase of electricity from a network provider.
The evidence shows that the greatest, and continuous cost is with the energy supply rather than the cost of initial investment.

The annual running cost of the E-4S 1 is on average 22% cheaper than those of a central heating boiler over a 12 year period.
